Deep sea research with "Enosui"
Sagami Bay, which spreads out in front of Enosui, is an extremely fascinating place where almost all of the earth's scientific activities can be observed, including the uplift and subsidence of the earth's crust due to plate boundaries, volcanic eruptions, lava flows, submarine landslides, and seepage from the seafloor.
Before heading out to meet the deep-sea creatures, take in the view of Sagami Bay and learn about the complex underwater topography and characteristics of the deep sea!
[Exhibition location] Welcome Lounge
Creatures that walk on the deep sea floor of Sagami Bay
We will introduce you to a deep-sea creature that walks on the ocean floor at a depth of 1,000m in Sagami Bay. Let's take a look at how it survives in the deep sea, including its inconspicuous red body in the dark ocean and its diet that eats anything.
[Exhibition location] Welcome Lounge Theme Aquarium
[Exhibited creatures] ・Ibaranimodoki ・Giant isopods, etc.
Limited time new arrival! Deep sea creature tank
During the exhibition, 12 small window tanks will display the adorable deep-sea creatures that will be collected during the winter survey. Enosui treaters will board fishing boats in Sagami Bay and Suruga Bay, and the exhibits will be updated daily.

Glowing deep sea creatures
Deep-sea creatures are known to emit light, but the reasons and methods for emitting light vary depending on the species. Here we will introduce the luminous parts and mechanisms of deep-sea creatures through glowing illustrations.

My dream deep sea creatures
Focusing mainly on Sagami Bay and Suruga Bay, the deep sea creatures that are rarely encountered even during surveys are introduced through panel photographs. Deep sea creatures chosen by Enosawa treaters that they would like to see or raise someday are on display.

Taking on the challenge of long-term rearing of the deep sea idol, the common octopus!
Using three aquariums, they are attempting to raise species of the octopus family, which are difficult to keep for long periods of time. Each tank has different equipment and rearing methods, and the research process is on display! One of the tanks can be moved to a suitable rearing environment.
*The Octopus may only be exhibited for a short period of time. We will post information on the website, social media, etc. regarding whether or not it will be exhibited and where it will be exhibited.
[Exhibition location] Deep Sea I and others
Touch deep sea creatures!
Winter, when the temperature difference between the deep sea and the surface water is small, is the best time to collect and transport deep-sea creatures. Enosawa treaters board bottom trawl fishing boats to survey and collect deep-sea creatures, which are exhibited live and frozen specimens. See, touch, and experience the structure of the bodies of precious deep-sea creatures!
