  • It was fun for 3 generations!

    Odawara is easy to get to from our home using the Seisho Bus, and it's a familiar town that we sometimes stop by on the way back from Ito or Atami. This time, our grandchildren wanted to try out marquetry, so we visited the Community Center. It wasn't until we realized that the beautiful building right in front of Odawara Castle was the place! The interior was spacious and lovely, with lots of wood used and cute Odawara lantern decorations. With kind guidance from the staff, our grandchildren enjoyed making marquetry coasters, and we returned home satisfied with souvenirs in hand. It's a place we'd like to visit again at our leisure.

I learned that it is possible.I immediately decided to go here because I thought that even my mother could make marquetry coasters in a short amount of time, and that the coasters that were created would be something I could use every day.
    First, listen to the work procedure from the person in charge and get started!It was fun to arrange the pieces of wood to decide on the pattern of the coaster and think about the colors.There were some difficult moments, such as attaching wood glue and fixing it with rubber bands, but it was completed in about 30 minutes and was an experience that gave me a sense of accomplishment.
    When I got home, I polished it up with the sandpaper I received, and now I use it every day as a coaster for tea, and it's filled with fond memories.
