    The other day, on a rainy day during Golden Week, my wife and I went to Watanabe Bakery in Hakone.
    As it was a bit chilly due to the rain, I was craving something warm, so I ordered their specialty hot spring stew bread and coffee set, as well as the rare pickled plum bean paste bread.
    First, the hot spring stew bread. It was crispy on the outside, and the inside was filled with hot stew. It had a gentle flavor that slowly seeped into my cold body. The combination of the rich yet nostalgic stew and the fragrant bread was more delicious than I had imagined, and I finished it in no time. The coffee that came with the set was also carefully brewed, and went perfectly with the stew bread.
    Then, out of curiosity, I ordered the pickled plum bean bun. I took a bite and was surprised at how well the soft, fluffy bread dough's gentle sweetness matched with the salty and sour taste of the pickled plum. The balance of sweetness and saltiness was perfect, leaving a lasting taste. It was a unique combination I'd never tried before, but it was one I'd want to try again and again.
    Although it was a rainy day, the store had a warm atmosphere and I was able to relax. The polite service from the staff was also very pleasant.
    If you visit Hakone, why not stop by and try their hot spring stew bread and the somewhat unexpected pickled plum bean paste bread? Even on a rainy day, you're sure to have a wonderful time that will warm your body and soul.
